TO-252 (DPAK)

Package: TO-252-2 Library: Package_TO_SOT_SMD Category: Power Package Pads: 3 Pitch: 2.28mm Body Size: 6.5 x 6.0mm Mounting: Surface Mount

Description

The TO-252 (DPAK) is a surface-mount power package designed as the SMD equivalent of the TO-220. With a large drain/collector tab that solders directly to the PCB, it provides excellent thermal performance without a heatsink — up to 2W on a standard 1oz copper plane. Standard package for medium-power MOSFETs (IRFR3607, IRLR8743), voltage regulators (LM1117, AMS1117 in DPAK), and power transistors. The two leads plus tab design keeps routing simple while handling 5-10A depending on copper area.

Usage Notes

  • Designed for reflow soldering (paste stencil recommended)
  • Pad size optimized for 2.28mm pitch components
  • Follow IPC-7351 land pattern guidelines
