TO-220-3 Vertical

Package: TO-220-3_Vertical Library: Package_TO_SOT_THT Category: Power Package Pads: 3 Pitch: 2.54mm Body Size: 10.0 x 4.5mm Mounting: Through-Hole

Description

The TO-220-3 is the most iconic power semiconductor package in electronics. With three leads at 2.54mm pitch and a large metal tab for heatsink mounting, it handles up to 150W with proper cooling. This vertical mount variant is the standard footprint for the 7805/7812 voltage regulator family, LM317 adjustable regulator, IRF520/IRF540 power MOSFETs, and TIP31/TIP41 power transistors. The through-hole mounting provides excellent mechanical stability and thermal connection to heatsinks or copper planes.

Usage Notes

  • Standard through-hole mounting with wave or hand soldering
  • Drill sizes follow IPC-2222 specifications
  • Compatible with standard 2.54mm breadboard pitch
