SOT-89-3

Package: SOT-89-3 Library: Package_TO_SOT_SMD Category: Transistor / Power Pads: 3 Pitch: 1.50mm Body Size: 4.5 x 2.5mm Mounting: Surface Mount

Description

The SOT-89-3 fills the gap between the tiny SOT-23 and the larger SOT-223 in the power dissipation hierarchy. With a 4.5 x 2.5mm body and a large collector/drain tab extending under the package, it handles 0.5-1W without a heatsink. Used for medium-power transistors, small LDO regulators (HT7333), RF amplifiers, and voltage references. The extended tab provides better thermal coupling to the PCB than SOT-23 while taking less space than SOT-223. A sweet spot for designs needing moderate power handling.

Usage Notes

  • Designed for reflow soldering (paste stencil recommended)
  • Pad size optimized for 1.50mm pitch components
  • Follow IPC-7351 land pattern guidelines
