SOT-223-3

Package: SOT-223-3_TabPin2 Library: Package_TO_SOT_SMD Category: Power / Voltage Regulator Pads: 4 Pitch: 2.30mm Body Size: 6.5 x 3.5mm Mounting: Surface Mount

Description

The SOT-223 is a medium-power surface-mount package that bridges the gap between tiny SOT-23 and bulky TO-220 packages. With a 6.5 x 3.5mm body and a large tab for heat dissipation, it handles up to 1-2W without a heatsink. The three signal pins plus a large tab (connected to pin 2) provide excellent thermal performance through the PCB copper. This is the standard package for the AMS1117 and AP1117 LDO regulator families, NCP1117, and many other voltage regulators up to 1A output current.

Usage Notes

  • Designed for reflow soldering (paste stencil recommended)
  • Pad size optimized for 2.30mm pitch components
  • Follow IPC-7351 land pattern guidelines
