SOIC-8

Package: SOIC-8_3.9x4.9mm_P1.27mm Library: Package_SO Category: IC Package Pads: 8 Pitch: 1.27mm Body Size: 3.9 x 4.9mm Mounting: Surface Mount

Description

The SOIC-8 is the single most popular surface-mount IC package ever made. At 3.9 x 4.9mm with 1.27mm (50 mil) pitch, it is the SMD successor to the DIP-8 and houses an enormous range of ICs: op-amps (LM358, NE5532), voltage regulators (LM78L05), SPI flash (W25Q), EEPROMs (AT24C), timers (NE555), motor drivers, and gate drivers. The wide pin pitch makes it easy to solder by hand and inspect visually, making it the default choice when board space allows.

Usage Notes

  • Designed for reflow soldering (paste stencil recommended)
  • Pad size optimized for 1.27mm pitch components
  • Follow IPC-7351 land pattern guidelines
