R_1206 (3216 Metric)

Package: R_1206_3216Metric Library: Resistor_SMD Category: Passive Component Pads: 2 Pitch: N/A Body Size: 3.2 x 1.6mm Mounting: Surface Mount

Description

The 1206 (3216 Metric) is a larger SMD passive component at 3.2 x 1.6mm. It offers higher power dissipation (0.25W vs 0.125W for 0805) and higher voltage ratings, making it the standard for current-sense resistors, power resistors, and high-voltage applications. Also used for larger capacitance values (up to 100µF MLCC) and higher-value inductors. Very easy to hand-solder with large, visible pads. Common in power electronics, automotive, and industrial designs where robustness matters more than density.

Usage Notes

  • Designed for reflow soldering (paste stencil recommended)
  • Pad size optimized for standard components
  • Follow IPC-7351 land pattern guidelines
