R_0805 (2012 Metric)

Package: R_0805_2012Metric Library: Resistor_SMD Category: Passive Component Pads: 2 Pitch: N/A Body Size: 2.0 x 1.25mm Mounting: Surface Mount

Description

The 0805 (2012 Metric) is the workhorse passive component footprint in PCB design. At 2.0 x 1.25mm, it strikes the perfect balance between hand-solderability and board density. Used for resistors, capacitors, inductors, ferrite beads, and thermistors. Its pads are large enough for manual rework with a soldering iron, yet compact enough for dense SMD layouts. This is typically the default passive size for prototyping and low-to-medium density production boards.

Usage Notes

  • Designed for reflow soldering (paste stencil recommended)
  • Pad size optimized for standard components
  • Follow IPC-7351 land pattern guidelines

What are Sub-Skills?

Sub-skills are community-contributed AI skill extensions for this component. They teach AI assistants about specific tools, configurators, or workflows.

Examples:

  • A manufacturer’s configuration tool for a motor controller
  • A community-written design guide for an amplifier circuit
  • An automated test/validation script for a sensor module
