DIP-16 (W7.62mm)

Package: DIP-16_W7.62mm Library: Package_DIP Category: Through-Hole IC Pads: 16 Pitch: 2.54mm Body Size: 6.35 x 21.59mm Mounting: Through-Hole

Description

The DIP-16 is the 16-pin variant of the classic through-hole IC package. It houses shift registers (74HC595, 74HC165), multiplexers (74HC4051), ULN2003 Darlington driver arrays, MAX232 RS-232 transceivers, and L293D motor drivers. The extra two pins over DIP-14 enable more complex functionality while maintaining breadboard compatibility. A fundamental building block for teaching digital electronics, robotics projects, and LED display drivers. Still widely used in through-hole production for industrial controls.

Usage Notes

  • Standard through-hole mounting with wave or hand soldering
  • Drill sizes follow IPC-2222 specifications
  • Compatible with standard 2.54mm breadboard pitch
