Crystal SMD 3215

Package: Crystal_SMD_3215-2Pin_3.2x1.5mm Library: Crystal Category: Crystal / Oscillator Pads: 2 Pitch: N/A Body Size: 3.2 x 1.5mm Mounting: Surface Mount

Description

The 3215 (3.2 x 1.5mm) is one of the most popular SMD crystal packages. Available in frequencies from 32.768kHz (real-time clock) to tens of MHz (MCU main oscillator), it provides the timing reference for virtually all digital electronics. The 32.768kHz variant (2^15 Hz) divides cleanly to 1-second intervals for RTCs in every microcontroller. MHz variants serve as main clock sources for STM32, ESP32, and RP2040 designs. The compact 2-pin ceramic package mounts close to the MCU for short trace lengths and minimal parasitic capacitance.

Usage Notes

  • Designed for reflow soldering (paste stencil recommended)
  • Pad size optimized for standard components
  • Follow IPC-7351 land pattern guidelines

What are Sub-Skills?

Sub-skills are community-contributed AI skill extensions for this component. They teach AI assistants about specific tools, configurators, or workflows.

Examples:

  • A manufacturer’s configuration tool for a motor controller
  • A community-written design guide for an amplifier circuit
  • An automated test/validation script for a sensor module
